To move the fashion photography industry forward, PAIS’s approach is one that examines power relationships, recognizes both the challenges of designing a system rooted in justice and that inequity is a default human practice.
Therefore, in each production, we apply a method called Design Justice taught to us by professor Ibada Wadud. This method involves constant reflection on our language, ideas and practices ‘ in a context of a discourse of transformation’. Incorporating these checks and pauses throughout the creative process ensures that our ideas and actions remain on the path of equity.
PAIS is committed to taking time to map out concrete plans, finding realistic solutions towards these plans, remaining open to changes and adaptations as we evolve together and being accountable for the way we participate in photography and in the industries we collaborate.
